DoWEA Pacific wraps up soroban workshops across Japan
DoWEA students in grades 3-5 participated in this year’s soroban workshops, a Japanese cultural learning opportunity during which student participants learn what soroban is and how to calculate numbers using soroban tools.
DoWEA Announces State Winners for the Presidential AI Challenge
In April 2025, an executive order directed the establishment of the Presidential AI Challenge to expand artificial intelligence education for America’s youth. DoWEA is proud to recognize 2026 Presidential AI Challenge State Champion teams in nine DoWEA schools.

DoDEA Pacific South District launches “One Island, One Book” reading initiative across Okinawa elementary schools
Beginning Monday, September 22, every elementary family will receive a copy of Nim’s Island by Wendy Orr. Over the following weeks, families are encouraged to read the book together at home. The initiative aims to foster a love of reading, strengthen family connections, and build a vibrant community of readers across the island.
